How old is it?

A little while ago when my dad woke me up, I ran up the stairs from my room, quickly eating breakfast, brushing my hair (and all that morning stuff).

Just as I was ready to leave the house, my dad told me I still had 10 minutes before I had to go.

So I plopped down on the couch beside the stairs, I looked around the room, there on the arm of the couch was a toy doll.

The doll looked very, very old and well loved.

My dad who had been working on the computer  turn around to see me admiring the doll and I asked him “Who’s doll is this?”

His reply was, “It was Nana’s old doll but now it is yours.”

After school I saw my mom looking around I ask her “What are you looking for.”

I was shocked to hear “My doll, have you seen it?”

After a minute I told her it was in my room. Then my brother ran up to me and told me the phone was for me, I took it from him, smiled and put it up to my ear asking who it was I got a shocking reply of  “It is mama, Darion.”

Shocked I continued on “Why are you calling me?”

“Well I was wondering if got that doll I gave you?”

Now my head was really spinning, my mom thought the doll was her’s, but my grandma was giving it to me? “Hold on a minute let me talk to my mom.”

My mom hearing her name turned around and looked at me.

“Mom,” I ventured searching for the right words “mama says she was giving the doll to me.”

I stretched out my arms and waited for my mom to hand over the doll but instead of getting the doll  I got a serious reply, “It isn’t mama’s to give away! It is my doll, and I want to give it to my grandchildren, when I have some.”

Taking the phone to my ear once again I told my mama that my mom wanted to keep her doll and that I have no authority over her but that I care for the thoughtfulness and that I will see her soon.

After I hung up the phone I and asked my mom, “Were are you going to keep it?”

Looking up at me from the table my mom answered “In your room, if that’s okay?”

I nodded took the doll and walked off to put the doll in my baby bed that my grandfather had made me when I was really little.

Apparently the doll in 86 year old.

How old is the oldest toy you own?

Earthquakes are a threat…

How you should react to an earthquackeHow you should react to an earthquake.

…So here are some tips on how to avoid getting injured.

Earthquakes are a big threat to anyone who lives near the coast.

Here are some things you could do if you were at home when an earthquake takes place.

What to do:

  • find a table nearby
  • drop under it
  • cover your head and neck
  • hold on to the table leg
  • count to sixty slowly
  • wait until the shaking has stopped and a few minutes after the shaking has stopped or until an adult has given you further directions
  • calmly exit the building
  • go somewhere there is nothing that will fall on you (and no, the sky will not fall, so don’t be a Chicken Little)
  • wait until you receive help

What not to do:

  • don’t trust the triangle of life (The triangle of life was at one point said to be safer than drop, cover, hold on but that has been proven wrong the triangle of life is when you stand next to a bigger object and it was said that falling objects will fall next to you and you will end out in a triangle but life will still flow through you that’s how it got it’s name triangle of life but please don’t us it)
  • don’t run/leave the building during the quake
  • don’t go looking for something to hide under
  • don’t trust a doorway to keep you safe

What I would do if there was an earthquake when I was at home with my family. Is I would drop down to the floor covering my head and neck if there was a table or something sturdy that I could get under nearby I would crawl under it and wait until the shaking has stopped. Then I would count to sixty, then get up slowly and head out to my front yard where. I would meet the rest of my family on the road in front of my house.

The hazards that live in my house are:

  • computer shelf
  • book’s on book shelf
  • T.V.
  • chandelier
  • stuff on top of cupboards in kitchen

(In my room):

  • my book shelf
  • my lamp
  • barbie house (my grandpa made it for me)

Here are something to do if there’s an earthquake while you’re at school.

  • do the same as above

What not to do:

  • same as above

Live long, be safe!
